Leadership Development

Developing future leaders today.

Kodumela's founding purpose. Tutor leadership development, principal training, motivational talks and volunteer development build the leaders that rural communities need in order to develop themselves.

The challenge

Rural communities face significant development challenges, and development follows leadership. Kodumela's answer is to build leaders inside those communities rather than import them — starting with the young people already there.

The programme model

How it runs, stage by stage.

  1. 01

    Identify need

Lessons from previous programmes surface where volunteers and school leaders need support.

  2. 02

    Match support

Speakers from industry facilitate leadership, presentation and life-skills sessions.

  3. 03

    Deliver learning

Residential workshops combining training, exposure and recreation.

  4. 04

    Expose opportunity

Volunteers gain confidence, leadership and communication skills they carry into their own careers.

  5. 05

    Follow progress

Volunteers return year after year, taking on more responsibility each time.
